K'gari Beach Resort's absolute beach frontage and direct access to the island's east coast is a prime drawcard for 4WD enthusiasts. Gear up to hit the beach and see where the sand tracks take you!
Whether you're planning an off-roading adventure, are set to put your 4x4 to the test, are introducing the family to your favourite beachside destination, want to discover your very own secret spots, or simply want to take your time and cruise down the beach - there's an experience for every traveller.
K'gari Beach Resort is only accessible by 4WD, so make sure you check out the K'gari (Fraser Island) condition report from Queensland Parks and Wildlife before setting out. You can even pre-purchase your vehicle permit online. Island regulars know that track and beach conditions change daily (depending on tides and weather), so you may have to lower your tyre pressure to suit conditions - particularly in periods with little or no rain, where conditions are dry, and the sand is incredibly soft. Another top tip is to always check the tides - be sure to download the latest tide times here (check out Waddy Point for times on 75-Mile Beach; and Urangan for tides on the western side), and plan out your itinerary to maximise your drive time on the beach!
The resort is the ultimate, one-stop-shop for all of your island essentials... and everyone's welcome! You don't have to be a resort guest to enjoy the resort's facilities - even if you're camping, you can still swing by, fuel up and enjoy a tasty meal. The General Store and bottle shop provide everything you'll need, from groceries, snacks and drinks, to bait and tackle, ice, fishing gear and fuel. PLUS, no trip is complete without a stop into the Eurong Bakery. Relish a freshly-made barista coffee, tuck into some sweet treats, and stock up with some sandwiches and pies for the road. You beauty!
When the day's adventures draw to a close, our McKenzie's on 75 Restaurant and Bar boasts a fun, lively atmosphere, with the chance to mingle with, locals and K'gari (Fraser Island) visitors, and swap stories over a cold beer. You can even stick around for a delicious meal, offering an a la carte menu, and even pizzas available for dine in or takeaway!
